The roller extrusion granulator and rotary drum granulator exhibit different characteristics in organic fertilizer production.

In principle, the roller extrusion granulator relies on strong pressure to extrude the material through the mold into shape; The drum granulator uses the rolling and collision of materials inside the drum to achieve agglomeration granulation.

In terms of particle characteristics, the particles produced by the roller extrusion granulator have high density and strength, and their shape can be controlled by the mold, but they are relatively single. The particles produced by the rotary drum granulator have irregular shapes and varying sizes, but they have a good natural agglomeration effect.

In terms of raw material adaptability, the roller extrusion granulator has good tolerance for various properties of raw materials, especially for materials with high viscosity or fiber content. The rotary drum granulator has certain requirements for the humidity and viscosity of the raw materials, which need to be controlled within an appropriate range to achieve smooth granulation.

In terms of production efficiency, the structure of the roller extrusion granulator is complex, and the equipment start-up and commissioning time is long, but it has strong continuous production capacity. The structure of the rotary drum granulator is relatively simple, starts quickly, and can be quickly put into production, but fluctuations may occur during the production process due to material problems.

In terms of energy consumption, the roller extrusion granulator has a high energy consumption due to its strong pressure demand. The energy consumption of the rotary drum granulator is mainly due to the rotation of the drum, which is relatively low.

In terms of equipment cost, the roller extrusion granulator is expensive, and the cost of mold replacement is also high. The price of the rotary drum granulator is moderate, and the cost of equipment maintenance and updates is relatively low.

When selecting equipment, if the raw materials are complex and diverse, the requirements for particle strength and shape control are high, and there is sufficient funding and energy budget, the roller extrusion granulator is the first choice. If we focus on equipment cost and quick start production, and do not have high requirements for particle shape, a rotary drum granulator can better meet the demand.
